Our Story
Our Story
Baking for the Bay began as a simple idea: make community service more accessible for high school students in Moraga.
We noticed that most volunteer opportunities supporting the Bay Area’s homeless required long commutes, which made it difficult for local students to get involved. To change that, we started baking for those in need right from our own kitchens.
What began as a small group of students sharing homemade goods with the unhoused community has grown into a larger effort that brings together youth, bakeries, and local businesses across the Bay. Today, we are expanding our mission to include redistributing surplus baked goods from local shops, reducing food waste, and continuing to support those experiencing homelessness.
At its heart, Baking for the Bay is about connection: between students and their community, between food and compassion, and between small acts and lasting impact.
